Imagine actually watching football in and not following the game via twitter reactions. Who does something like that? I still dont get the dependency on twitter, it is a cesspit of spastic and the worst sort of reactionary comments, with occasionally a thoughful or witty retort.

Who needs that in their life? Twitter makes this subreddit look like the house of commons. Everyone likes to point out how terrible this sub is and whatnot, but you are always going to have idiots around.

True, and I have seen a lot of people actually have a normal conversation on here, often times agreeing despite a difference on club support.

Twitter is beyond toxic. They never have an answer. To me the complaining is actually worse than the toxicity. The trolls and the assholes usually get downvoted to hell, while the complainers get upvoted for contributing next to nothing to the discussion.

But that shit is inescapable without proper moderation so what can you do: Supporter forums, supporter subs, football magazine sites, random discussions in forums that have nothing to do with football.

This place is some anonymous popularity contest with morons repeating the same nonsense and up voting each other with no critical thought.

And there is way too many idiots adding their stupid ideas to the discussions which are often fucking terrible.

The high percentage of Americans is also shit. But this place does have easy to access highlights and a relaxed attitude to copyright laws so not all bad.

Twitter has fantastic analysts, statisticians, coaches, etc. Follow content creators, good writers, good journalists etc. You just need to know where to look.

Feels like reddit is the same way, but people find the interesting content for me. Also nobody intelligent ever seems to reply on there, so why even bother.

Except downvotes exist here. Thats the problem with twitter. Idiot posts dumb opinion other idiots like it. Now original idiot sees his likes and thinks it validates his idiotic opinion.

Anyway downvotes are less about hiding minority opinions and more about essentially being a poll of if the user base agrees or not. Twitters system is a poll of the user base where only positive votes are counted.

Look at my OP. It gives idiots a sense that their opinions are validated because a few other idiots like it. If you could downvote those tweets would be in the negatives and maybe that would cause some kind of introspection for the OP.

I agree with the sentiment though. Twitter is incredibly informative if you follow the right people based on your interests.

I for example, follow quite a few serious journalists based in Russia, China, India, the Middle East, etc. Commenting will likely accomplish nothing at all aside from making you angry, and engaging with randoms will likely be a waste of time.

Could you share those journalists? Media like twitter and facebook has sadly brought out the worst among people on every front - religion, politics or even sports.

I quite enjoy the match threads on here. I suppose you can build yourself a bubble to keep the noise out, but then all you have is a bubble. Could never really get invested in twitter, but reddit is gone to the dogs over the last few years too.

I had someone tell me on here yesterday that if a team loses a game they need to win then they are bottlers - simple as that.

People love that infantile shit. Match against another top 6 side? TBH it is just more amusing that way. That was an anomaly that people have accepted as the norm.

I think of it in this way. Are you a bunch of bottlers? The game is played and afterward journalists and fans create little stories in their heads about what happened.

I think a lot of the time the stories are created before the game and what happens is twisted to fit the stories.

You ever watched a game without commentary and then see the after-match reactions? Imagine thinking less of Pep Guardiola if he loses this match.

He only played 10 games in Ligue 1 because in November Toulouse moved him aside for not renewing his contract.

The talk was he would be in the Barcelona B side, but I heard from the club that he would be training with the first team. He is someone who has never been to an academy - he many trials in many different countries.

I think a lot of the time the stories are created before the game and what happens is twisted to fit the stories. You ever watched a game without commentary and then see the after-match reactions?

Imagine thinking less of Pep Guardiola if he loses this match. You can miss three instances when a defensive mid gets dribbled past and think he had a 6.

I watch a lot of matches at work with no sound on. This was part of my annoyance while the Mourinho era was going well at United.

Despite the fact we were winning games last year and were not always playing negative football, the focus disproportionately seemed to shift to the negatives even though we had a fairly good season last year.

Were we going to catch City last year with even a handful more points? Should that have invalidated what was otherwise a good season? Breaking their year league title drought, and overcoming the record breaking Manchester City who won it a year ago sounds like a story too good to be true.

We played newcastle yesterday and OGS mentioned how giving them a little bit of space in the final third got their fans going, and that can cause a turn in the game.

Same with things going right. In a lot of ways, what happens throughout the game depends on what happens first, and how that changes the atmosphere.

Humans are hard-wired to seek narratives by nature and creating compelling stories is the foundation of all writing, journalism included.

Unless it really slaps you in the face like say a repeat of the beach ball incident luck just does not make for a very compelling narrative, even though it plays a tremendous role in the outcome of most sporting events.

So in effect the narratives are actually real? You get chicks at home watching Emmerdale or whatever, cursing the evil landlord, crying at some epic redemption moment for a character, sad that their man is an emotionless lump around them.

Meanwhile that man is at the footy match, cursing the evil opposition manager, crying at some epic redemption moment Origi vs Pickford? My hobbies are likely just as dumb to them.

I quite like having the gentle piss taken out of me for my strange interests, it gives me a chance to show a bit of uniqueness. I follow football for the on pitch drama, all the other stuff is making me fall out of love with the game.

BBC used to make match reports which broke the actual game down and told us exactly what happened without needing to shit on anyone or lick the flavour of the months anus.

But are there people out there who honestly believe pep is a shit coach? People believe that he is a lucky coach, since he only so far managed strong teams from the top 4 leagues.

Except you know, for getting Barcelona B promoted from the 4th division to the 3rd division of Spanish football. In no other industry would it be expected for someone at the top of their field to take a shit job.

If they draw , Pep and Klopp should be taken outside and disposed of, and the Title handed to Wolves. Go to every sub when the game starts and see how the comments favour city.

We are definitely underdogs today. I think it depends how you define hated. On average if you asked everyone who their most, it would be probably Liverpool and Man Utd.

But Tottenham have 3 sides as their major rivals Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham all of whom would probably say they hate Tottenham the most, but the average fan of a different team probably has no opinion on Tottenham, whereas the average fan probably has a distaste for Liverpool.

This is not true tho. I was cheering for you guys but fans like you are making it extremely hard to do. Stop playing the victim card, stop acting like we owe you something.

You guys are so petty and infantile that you created an artificial rivalry out of a single game. Are Liverpool the most hated team in the prem?

Are your fans the most annoying, entitled and victimist fans out of the prem? And I say that as someone who hates your club the least out of the top 6.

Probably but no where near as much as City will. The media will circle like sharks. Is City expected to win? Strong defensive and counter attacking teams, i could be wrong, i dont watch as many games obviously as the actual fans.

The only way a football team made up of 11 players, can be bottlers is if they collectively play badly when under pressure and that being out of character of them.

Football has always been like that. Piatek is a fascinating player. On his Milan debut he started in special fashion with two goals against Napoli to make everyone go "who is Gonzalo Higuain?

He only played 10 games in Ligue 1 because in November Toulouse moved him aside for not renewing his contract.
